Introducing Throwback Thursday

Introducing Throwback Thursday! Over the next few months we plan to share a weekly post featuring the history and little known facts about our beautiful Hermann Sons Home Association building, home to the historic Rathskeller Bar, ballroom, bowling alley, and rooftop garden. The current Home Association building was home to the original Grand Lodge of the Sons of Hermann, built in 1911. When the present Grand Lodge was built next door, the Grand Lodge offices moved over, and the original building became a meeting and social space for members of the San Antonio lodges.

Over the past 112 years the Home Association building has undergone a few changes, including additions, remodeling, and repurposing. Some things, however, have stayed pretty much the same.
